Balance Sheet Manager®

Measure the impact of
balance sheet management
decisions before implementation

Overview
Balance Sheet Manager (BSM) is a module to the Risk Analytics ALM Model™ that provides a user with a quick, accurate measurement of the impact balance sheet management decisions will have, before implementation. User’s can run any number of “what-if" scenarios on a PC with the Balance Sheet Manager Windows-based software. Banking organizations will make better informed decisions when it is known in advance the impact to earnings and equity level, and exposure to changes in interest rates.

The Process
As a BSM subscriber, clients receive a new dataset for use in the Balance Sheet Manager software each time the ALM model is updated. This dataset includes all current balance sheet, cash flow, market rate, and securities information. When the data is received, “what-if” scenarios that will help in planning and decision making process are immediately available for modeling.

Software Capabilities
Balance Sheet Manager™ instantly shows how “what-if” scenarios will impact the following areas:

• Current earnings
• Risk of interest rate changes to earnings
• Value of your equity
• Risk of interest rate changes to the value of your equity
• Key liquidity and capital ratios
• Compliance with respect to set risk limits

Buy or sell securities and
evaluate their impact on the
total balance sheet

Plus, the Balance Sheet Manager allows users to:

• Buy or sell securities and evaluate the impact on the overall balance sheet, which satisfies FFIEC requirements
• Grow or run-off account balances
• Twist, flatten, invert, or make any other change to the yield curve, immediately or over time
• Modify assumptions, including the lives of non-maturity deposits and "offered" rate sensitivity to interest rate shocks
• Modify prepayment assumptions on loan portfolios
• Adjust loan and deposit product pricing
• Change non-interest budget and more

Compare the results of one
scenario to another and either
print or save the results for
future review

Users can easily break down or combine scenarios and compare one strategy to another. The “what-if” scenarios can be saved, printed, and archived; thus providing fully documented decisions to the board and examiners.
